Event: 'Photographing In The Smoky Mountains And Blue Ridge Parkway'

Blount Springs Workshops
This is the default category
Date: Saturday, August 07, 2010 At 08:00:00 AM
Duration: All Day

The "Dog Days" of late July and August become oppressively hot here in Alabama, but a trip to the cool air of the Blue Ridge Parkway offers a welcome respite to the sweltering heat.

This workshop will be all day Saturday, August 7. We will begin in the crisp 5,000-foot-high air at the Mount Pisgah Inn on the Blue Ridge Parkway and work our way back toward the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Most students will want to plan to stay Friday evening either at the Mount Pisgah Inn, camp at the nearby campground or find other nearby lodging in the Waynesville, NC area. Because the workshop will continue until sunset on Saturday, most participants will also want to plan to stay in the mountains that night as well.

The $150 workshop fee does not include any accommodations or meals for this trip and students are encouraged to bring a lunch and wear comfortable shoes.

From Pisgah, we'll head south on the Parkway, stopping at several points along the way and discuss and use tried and true techniques for capturing the landscape subjects in this breathtakingly beautiful setting. Near the end of the Parkway we'll veer off to a well-maintained one-way gravel road that meanders off Balsam Mountain to eventually come out in Cherokee with many, many photographic opportunities along the way.
