Weddings by David Haynes

David Haynes has captured the once-in-a-lifetime moments at hundreds of weddings in his more than 35 years as a wedding photographer.

The 21st Century change from film to digital photography as the primary method for capturing weddings has revolutionized the way memories of that special day are recorded and presented. Today it is not unusual for a thousand or more images to be made during a typical wedding day, whereas in the film days the standard was a few hundred at most.

This is because film is a one-time use product and digital media can be used over-and-over again. This fact frees the digital photographer to capture any moment with the possibility of being a good image, whereas in the film days the photographer was careful to only take photographs that were likely to be purchased. This often resulted in a predictable repetition of the same poses in wedding after wedding.

But today the digital photographer who possesses documentary skills is able to record the events of the wedding day as they happen and is free to experiment with images that probably would not have been taken in the film days. Often these photographs are the ones that are the most memorable!

The digital revolution has also changed the way David Haynes markets and prices his wedding photography.

The old model of the photographer holding the film negatives and relying on sales of reprints from those negatives is no longer viable in today's digital world. Today one client may want a conventional album while the next may want to design their own wedding book from an online or other service. Still others want to distribute the images from their wedding day via the internet, on social networking sites or other outlets.

David Haynes' wedding photography pricing is designed to give the client the most options for use of the images from the wedding.

And it is simple: The client pays a creative fee of $2,500 for David Haynes to plan and photograph the wedding day, start to finish. Following the wedding the client receives all the original image files and a copyright release showing they own the rights to use the images in any way they choose.

If a client wishes for David Haynes to assist with the design or production of albums, e-books, or other end-use prints that can be done for an additional fee based on the time involved.

Payment:

A non-refundable retainer of 50 percent of the creative fee ($1,250) is required to reserve the date of the wedding. The balance of the creative fee ($1,250) plus any travel adjustment is due one month prior to the wedding date.

NOTE: The standard creative fee assumes the wedding is within 100 miles of Blount Springs. Travel expenses are required for events more than 100 miles away.
